SENSOR DETECTS WATER-BASED LIQUIDS A new photoelectric sensor from Banner Engineering detects the presence or absence of water in transparent and translucent glass and plastic containers. A high powered version can also detect water-based liquids in many opaque glass and plastic containers. The QS30H2O sensors provide reliable quality control for bottling and filling of water-based liquids. There are many applications in the food, beverage, packaging, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. The sensor can also verify that liquid is being emitted from nozzles to assure proper operation of spraying systems for washing, cooling, package gluing and other applications. Standard power models are appropriate for applications where the container is transparent, such as clear water in clear bottles. They can also detect the presence or absence of a water coating on the outside of containers. High power models are recommended when the container is opaque or not completely transparent. A rapid response time of 1ms allows the sensors to be used on high line speeds. The infrared beam is powerful enough to burn through dust and other airborne contaminants. Accessory apertures can narrow the light beam in order to improve the accuracy of liquid level detection. The versatile WORLD-BEAM® housing provides multiple mounting configurations requiring very little space. Rugged and leakproof, the sensors are rated to IP67 for harsh environments. Epoxy-encapsulated electronics resist mechanical shock and vibration. Innovative circuitry provides excellent resistance to electromagnetic and radio frequency interference. Standard models come with discrete outputs while advanced models with analog output and remote Teach are also available. Banner Engineering is one of the world's leading manufacturers of vision sensors, photoelectric and ultrasonic sensors, fiber optic assemblies, indicator lights, machine guarding systems, and precision measurement and inspection systems. The company provides local application support worldwide. For product
